Roomie Coordinator

Privacy Policy

Effective 29/7/2026 · Applies to the Roomie Coordinator iOS app

Who we are

This app and this policy are provided by [Controller Name] (“we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Oman. We are the data controller responsible for the personal information described here.

For any privacy question or request, contact us at [privacy@yourdomain.com]. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details. When you create an account we collect your name or display name, your email address, and authentication credentials. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides and the email you choose to share (which may be a private relay address).
  • Profile settings. Optional details such as the colour you’re assigned within a household and any profile information you add.
  • Household content. The information you and your housemates create in a household of up to ten members — including chore schedules and assignments, shared-supply lists, household activity posts, expenses (descriptions, amounts, who paid, how a cost is split, and whether it’s been settled), calendar events, to-dos, notes, and house rules.
  • Support communications. If you email us, we keep your messages and contact details so we can help and keep a record of the request.

Information collected automatically

When you use the app, we and our providers automatically collect:

  • Device and app information — device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, and a device or installation identifier.
  • Usage and log data — features you use, actions taken, and technical logs, used to operate and improve the app.
  • Diagnostics — crash reports and performance data that help us find and fix problems.

We do not collect your precise location. Any dates, times, or amounts you see are the ones you and your housemates enter.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Create your account and sign you in securely.
  • Run your household and keep its content in sync in real time for every member of the group.
  • Send service-related notifications, such as chore reminders or activity in your household (where you’ve enabled them).
  • Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • Keep the app safe and reliable — preventing abuse, fraud, and technical problems.
  • Understand how the app is used so we can fix issues and improve features.
  • Comply with applicable laws and enforce our terms.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to serve targeted advertising.

How your information is shared

  • With your household members. Roomie Coordinator is a shared tool. Content you add to a household — chores, supplies, activity, expenses, calendar events, to-dos, notes, and your name and assigned colour — is visible to the other members of that household (up to ten people). Only share a household with people you trust.
  • With service providers. We share information with the vendors who help us run the app, described in the next section. They may only process it on our instructions.
  • For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users or the public.
  • In a business transfer. If the app or our business is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We’ll notify you of any change in who controls your data.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate Roomie Coordinator:

  • Google Firebase (Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd.) — authentication, database storage, and real-time sync (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), plus analytics and crash reporting (Google Analytics for Firebase and Crashlytics). Your household data is stored on Google’s infrastructure. See Google’s Firebase Privacy and Privacy Policy.
  • Apple Inc. — the App Store distributes the app, handles Sign in with Apple if you use it, and delivers push notifications. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

These providers act as our processors under a data processing agreement and may only use your information to provide their services to us.

International users and data transfers

We are based in Oman, and our providers process data on servers that may be located in the United States and other countries. This means that if you are in the EEA, the UK, or Australia, your personal information may be transferred to and processed in a country whose data-protection laws differ from your own.

When we transfer personal information out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards — principally the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum), which Google incorporates into its terms. When we disclose Australian users’ information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it’s handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and your household exists, so the app works for you and your housemates. After that:

  • When you delete your account, we delete the personal information associated with it, except where we must keep limited records to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
  • Content you contributed to a shared household may remain visible to the other members of that household even after you leave, since it belongs to the group’s shared records. Where technically possible, your name is dissociated from it.
  • Backups and logs are held for a limited period and then overwritten or deleted on a rolling basis.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights. To exercise any of them, use the controls in the app or email us — see Contact us. We won’t discriminate against you for exercising your rights, and we’ll verify your identity before acting on a request.

Everyone

  • Access and correct the information in your profile and household directly in the app.
  • Delete your account and associated personal data — see the next section.

Europe, the UK, and similar laws

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal information; to data portability; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).

California and other US states

You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it; to access and delete it; to correct inaccuracies; and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under US state privacy laws, and we do not process sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.

Australia

You may request access to and correction of your personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles. If you’re concerned about how we’ve handled your information, contact us first; if you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account at any time from within the app, in your account or profile settings. Deleting your account removes your profile and the personal information linked to it, subject to the limited exceptions described under How long we keep your information.

If you can’t access the app, email us at [privacy@yourdomain.com] and we’ll process your deletion request.

Security

We protect your information using the safeguards built into our infrastructure, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, authenticated access, and access controls that limit who can reach your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your information, we can’t guarantee absolute security. If we ever become aware of a data breach that affects you, we’ll notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

Children’s privacy

Roomie Coordinator is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, and at least 13) to use the app. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the app evolves or the law changes. When we do, we’ll revise the “Effective” date at the top and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice in the app. Your continued use of Roomie Coordinator after an update means you accept the revised policy.
